About Us

On January 7, 1958, Orange Firestone Employees Federal Credit Union received its federal charter. Nine charter members formed the credit union to benefit of the employees of the Orange Firestone Plant. On April 28, 1958, the credit union began operations and thirty-nine employees became members. The credit union remained located at the plant until 1989, which is when the credit union moved to its current location. Orange Firestone Employees Federal Credit Union has remained financially strong despite all the strikes and layoffs. Orange Firestone's employees remained the only membership group in the credit union until January 1987, which is when J. M. Huber's employees were granted membership. The credit union continued to add groups to the field of membership but it became apparent to management that many more people wanted to join. So in March 1999, the credit union applied for a community charter, which was granted on July 22, 1999. The credit union name changed to Firestone Community Federal Credit Union and now anyone who lives, works, or goes to school in Orange County can join. In 2005 the credit union applied for and received approval to serve "persons that live, work, worship, or attend schools in Newton County and West Calcasieu Parish Louisiana.  Adding this to our field of membership will allow the credit union to serve our current members in those area through future expansion. Persons not already members of Firestone Community FCU will now have the ability to join a credit union that is poised to serve the financial needs of the these areas.
